Electric Flaps

You can see some of the parts I used on the "What'ch Looking Fur"  page.  The actuator came from McMaster-Carr and the sensor and LED indicator came from Ray Allen Company.

Here is a picture of the installed actuator, I haven't installed the sensor yet.  I just need to mount it on the flaperon control rod at the point it has full travel.  It is wired separate from the actuator.

I used the button switches on my control stick to move the actuator.

I mounted the push rod end stationary and the motor end connected to the flaperon control assembly.  Adjust the actuator with the cylinder closed for your flaps to be at 30 degrees.  That way you can not accidentally over flap.  The actuator is a little fast but not as fast as moving the flap by hand in one move.  I do not find it to be a problem, just bump it a little at a time to where you want it.

Once you have your flaps set, it is easy to adjust both flaps at one time by adjusting the actuator with the stop nuts on the all-thread.  The all-thread is 5/16" Stainless.

Sorry about the picture, it is a little difficult to take pictures inside the fuselage.
